About Nina Zanarelli

Welcome to my Portfolio!

My name is Nina Zanarelli, and I was born on December 5, 1998, in Milan, a city that mirrors some of my own traits. I'm a blend of chaos and restlessness, yet I possess a strong sense of organization and performance. I tend to maintain a positive outlook, show empathy, and harbor a profound curiosity about the lives of others. Throughout my life, color and drawing have remained the essential tools of my creativity, forming the language through which I tell my stories.

In July 2020, I graduated with a degree in Interior Design from Politecnico di Milano. It was here that I discovered a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment that encouraged dialogue and shared growth. My intrinsic desire for experimentation led me to explore diverse settings, and I was fortunate enough to participate in the Erasmus program, spending a valuable semester at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. This experience immersed me in a melting pot of cultures and diverse design methodologies, equipping me with fresh insights and skills.

Following my graduation, I noticed that the internships and job offers I received as an interior designer didn't align with my passion for contributing to meaningful projects. This realization prompted me to embark on a master's degree in Service Design.

Over the past three years, I have developed the expertise to create services that enhance the lives of specific communities and tackle social issues. In 2020, I developed an app to help Carnegie Mellon University students stay connected and enjoy a fulfilling college experience from the confines of their homes due to the pandemic. In 2021, I crafted a project for an EU open competition aimed at facilitating the reporting of hate crimes against the LGBTIQ community, particularly in the 14 out of 27 countries where these crimes remain unrecognized by governments. In 2022, my thesis delved into enhancing access to Italian Digital Public Services for individuals lacking digital skills or access to digital devices.

I firmly believe that the skills and knowledge I've acquired during my master's program and work experiences can make a significant impact and contribute to positive change.
